Hi, there! I’m Kathleen A. Kelly. I launched Gray Bevins Editorial to work directly with scholars, independent authors, academic journals, and book publishers in developing their book- and journal-length projects into publishable manuscripts. As an English editing firm, Gray Bevins aims to preserve an author’s voice and underlying message while revising the more technical and organizational aspects of an author’s writing.
I’ve worked as an acquisitions editor, content consultant, copyeditor, and Spanish-to-English translator for higher education and academic publishers, including such presses as Oxford University Press. I have served as an external juror for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Public Scholars Program in history and a judge for the Oklahoma Book Award in poetry.
I serve clients in the humanities and qualitative social sciences, including anthropology, American studies, architecture and design, art history and visual arts, Black studies, creative writing (fiction, creative nonfiction and memoir, and poetry), film studies, gender and sexuality studies, history, Latin American studies (with a focus on Argentina and Brazil), Latinx studies, literary studies, Middle East studies, and sociology.
